Anticancer.ca is operated by Anticancer.ca Inc. (“Anticancer.ca,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, how we protect it, and the choices and rights you have. We are based in Canada and handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), applicable provincial privacy laws (including Quebec’s Law 25), and applicable US state privacy laws. Although we operate from Canada, we recognize that our audience may be located anywhere in the world.

1. Personal Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to operate the site and provide the features you use:

• Newsletter sign-up: your email address, so we can send you updates you have asked to receive.
• Contact form: your name, email address, subject, and message, so we can respond to your enquiry.
• Meal Plan Generator: the details you enter (such as age, weight, height, activity level, cuisine preferences, dietary restrictions, and health conditions). Some of this may be sensitive health information. We use it only to generate the meal plan you request during that session.
• Anticancer AI assistant: the questions you type into the embedded assistant, which are sent to our third-party AI provider to generate a response.
• Automatically collected data: standard technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, referring pages, and pages visited, collected through our hosting provider, cookies, and any analytics we use to keep the site secure and understand usage.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To respond to your messages and enquiries.
• To send newsletter updates you have requested, and to let you withdraw that consent.
• To generate the meal plans and AI responses you ask for.
• To operate, maintain, secure, debug, and improve the website.
• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the health-related details you enter into the Meal Plan Generator for any purpose other than creating your requested plan.

3. Consent

We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent, except where the law permits or requires otherwise. By submitting a form or using a feature, you consent to the handling of that information as described here. For our newsletter, you provide express consent when you sign up, and every email includes an unsubscribe link so you can withdraw consent at any time (consistent with CASL). You may withdraw consent for other processing at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions, by contacting us; this may limit our ability to provide certain features.

4. Service Providers and Disclosure

We share personal information with trusted third-party service providers only as needed to operate the site, and only for the purposes described above. These include our website hosting provider, our email/newsletter platform, our contact-form delivery service, the AI providers that power the Meal Plan Generator and the Anticancer AI assistant, our content management system, and any analytics provider. These providers process information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a business transaction.

5. Data Transfers Outside Canada

Some of our service providers store or process information in the United States or other countries. As a result, your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed outside your province or country, and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities in those jurisdictions under their laws. Where required, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information receives a comparable level of protection.

6. Cookies and Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site. It sets first-party cookies (such as “_ga”) to distinguish visitors and measure traffic; we do not use this to identify you personally. Our own site does not use cookies for accounts, personalization, or session history. You can block cookies through your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on; disabling some cookies may affect how the site works.

7. Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it. Newsletter data is retained until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are retained as long as needed to handle your enquiry and maintain our records. Meal Plan Generator inputs are used to produce your plan and are not used to build a lasting profile of you.

8. How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, or use, appropriate to its sensitivity. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you and request a copy;
• ask us to correct or update inaccurate or incomplete information;
• withdraw your consent or ask us to delete your information, subject to legal limits;
• unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time; and
• ask questions or make a complaint about how we handle your information.

Residents of some US states (such as California) may have additional rights, including to know, access, delete, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Because we do not sell personal information, there is no sale to opt out of. To exercise any right, please contact us. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity first.

10. Children’s Privacy

The site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and material changes will be reflected on this page.
